A man who had been treated for “psychological problems” has attacked a nurse and stabbed a female police officer in the throat in the Paris, before being shot dead.
The attack took place this morning in the Vincennes suburb when the 29-year-old assaulted the nurse before police were called, the Le Figaro newspaper reported.
The nurse had reportedly gone to his home to give him care when he attacked her. The police officer he stabbed is injured by her condition is not said to be critical.
Authorities have given no further details on the attack, but to one police source said the attacker had recently left the hospital where he was treated for psychological problems.
The events come just three days after an Algerian migrant stabbed a French police officer in Toulouse, shouting that he was “sick of France”. The man had a history of violence, including attempting to firebomb a synagogue.
On the 19th of Agust, a man in Islamic dress shouting “Allahu Akbar” attempted to murder of a Rabbi in the northern city of Strasbourg.
And in July, an 85-year-old catholic priest, Father Jacques Hamel, was beheaded by Islamic State supporters in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, Normandy.
