The people of Britain should vote to leave the European Union tomorrow to “take back control” of their country and immigration system, UKIP leader Nigel Farage has said.

Speaking exclusively to Breitbart London, Mr Farage explained to American viewers that the European Union is not a free trade area like NAFTA but a political project.

“For your American viewers who don’t understand what the EU really is, don’t worry because nor does Obama. He doesn’t get it at all,” Mr Farage said.

“We are part of a political union – it has a flag, it has an anthem, it’s got a police force, it’s building an army, and its courts overrule the British parliament and overrule the British Supreme Court, so we’ve effectively become a satellite state of this European project.”

“What tomorrow is about is taking back our country and becoming an independent, normal nation. [Americans] have Independence Day, a big, big thing in the USA every year and 183 countries in the world have an independence day – I was us tomorrow to become the 184th.”

Mr Farage also said the Establishment had gone out of its way to play down issues of sovereignty and national independence.

“It’s been quite difficult in this referendum, given the Establishment – by that I mean the big corporate companies, big politics, big government machine. They have really done their best to shout down any high-minded debate perhaps about democracy, so I’m just trying to encapsulate it in  a very simple phrase: ‘We want our country back’.”

Speaking on how the EU has affected immigration, Mr Farage said Britain had lost control of its borders.

“It’s remarkable, we’ve literally opened the door,” he said, adding that our population is “going up half a million every single year and nearly all of that is through new arrivals and new arrivals having children.”

In terms of the impact it is “fantastic” for the rich as it means “cheap nannies, cheap chauffeurs, cheap gardeners.”

For ordinary workers, however, it has driven down the price of labour, it means people cannot get doctor’s appointments and in terms of housing “we have to build on our little island a new house every four minutes night and day just to cope with arrivals coming into our country.”

Referring to Sir Alan Sugar’s controversial tweet last night, Mr Farage said he did not expect the media to be in uproar about it as they would if a Leave supporter had said the same thing: “You can take on the Establishment and they kick back hard, and it will be exactly the same in the Washington beltway.

“Anyone that challenges the established, cosy political and media consensus, horrible things get said about them, and I’ve had a lot of horrible things said about me, but you know what if we win tomorrow I’ll forget about all of it.”
