Men dressed as Medieval knights and competed in the middle of London as part of a resurgence in popular English St George’s Day celebrations.
The festival took place on the site of the famous Vauxhall pleasure gardens and is hosted by the Tea House Theatre, a local tea room.
The day also included Punch and Judy and traditional Morris dancers.
St George is the patron saint of England and his feast day has been celebrated since the Middle Ages. In recent decades, the popularity of the day has waned and it is not a public holiday.
However, as England rediscovers its place in the world there has been a gradual resurgence in popularity.
