PICS: Defeated Corbyn Activists Distraught, Vandalise Church, As 66 MPs Rebel Against Labour Leader

WESTMINSTER, United Kingdom – Britain’s hard left activists as well as many libertarians and conservatives were left disappointed tonight as the British parliament voted by a majority of 174 votes for bombing raids on Islamic State targets in Syria.

But the hard left were the only ones visible on the streets of Westminster protesting against action in Syria, with exclusive pictures of the protest obtained by Breitbart London showing placards that read: “Don’t Bomb Syria” and “Because Last Time Went So Well”. Anti-war activists are also believed to have vandalised the local St. Margaret’s Church – daubing “Don’t Bomb Syria” in graffiti across one of the walls (above).

One photo, below, showed a woman carrying an “I Love Jeremy Corbyn” sign. The Labour leader was left with a bloody nose just hours before polls are due to open in the by-election seat of Oldham West and Royton, representing the second big test of his party leadership, the first being tonight’s Syria vote.

Sixty-six Labour MPs “rebelled” against their party leader by voting with the Conservative government position in favour of air strikes including 11 members of his Shadow Cabinet.

Though Mr. Corbyn carried 152 of his party’s MPs on the issue – and was forced into allowing a “free vote” on the matter – the fact that so many felt able to differentiate from his leadership will raise questions over his authority in the party.

Only seven Conservative Party MPs voted against the government, while UKIP’s only Member of Parliament Douglas Carswell is believed to have disappointed his party colleagues by voting with the government on air strikes. Twenty-nine per cent of UKIP voters wanted UK action in Syria after the Paris Attacks, while 40 per cent wanted United Nations action. Twenty-nine per cent wanted no action, or non-military action.
