Judge Who Claimed Asian Girl Would ‘Only Be Working In A Corner Shop’ Resigns From Immigration Role

A judge facing allegations of racism against an Asian victim has finally resigned in shame from his £150,000 a year job as an asylum and immigration judge.

The accusation of racism arose at the conclusion of a serious harassment case heard at Preston Magistrates’ Court on 30 October last year, reports the Daily Mail. Judge Terrence Hollingworth asked for the victim, Deepa Patel, to be brought to court. He wanted her to be present for the sentencing of her ex-boyfriend, Parvan Singh.

The prosecuting lawyer, Rachel Parker, told the judge she could not say whether Miss Patel was able to attend court at such short notice due to work commitments to which the district judge allegedly replied:

“It won’t be a problem. She won’t be working anywhere important where she can’t get the time off. She’ll only be working in a shop or an off-licence.”

When asked to clarify his comments by Miss Parker, he allegedly doubled down adding:

“With a name like Patel, and her ethnic background, she won’t be working anywhere important where she can’t get the time off. So that’s what we’ll do.”

In fact Miss Patel, a law graduate, worked in an office. She told The Sun: “I was born and bred in this country. I went through school, college and then on to university to study law. It’s shocking and disgusting for anyone to say that, especially a judge.”

As a result of the comments Miss Parker says she withdrew from the case telling the judge she was “professionally embarrassed” and “cannot prosecute this case.” The Crown Prosecution Service made an official complaint and four weeks later Mr Hollingworth resigned as a district judge, as previously reported by Breitbart London.

Hollingworth did not, however, resign his role as an immigration judge for the Asylum and Immigration Chamber. Instead he opted to face an official inquiry by the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office during which time he was not allowed to hear any cases but retained his position as a first-tier tribunal judge.

The judicial investigation, which has cost many thousands of pounds, was in full flow when Mr Hollingworth finally decided to throw in the towel.

A spokesman for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said: “Judge Hollingworth resigned as a tribunal judge during the course of the conduct investigation. He is no longer a judicial office holder in any capacity.”
