Blame German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conspicuous display of moral vanity. Her decision to welcome unlimited numbers of Syrian migrants and assorted welfare seekers will today see Hungary swamped by a chaotic wave of up to 30,000 people as its hardline approach to border crossings gets even tougher.

A record 5,809 migrants entered Hungary in a new surge on Sunday, smashing the previous day’s record of 4,330, Hungarian police have revealed. The sharp increase came 48-hours ahead of laws coming into force Tuesday under which people entering the EU country illegally can be jailed.

The head of Hungary’s border police, Laszlo Balazs, spelled out the scale of the influx. According to euronews he told reporters:

“From January 1 until today, the police took action in 191,702 cases of illegal border crossings.

“Yesterday, the police intercepted 5,809 people. This morning before 8am local time, the police took action against 3,280 people.”

The human invasion comes as Austria and Slovakia this afternoon announced that they would follow Germany’s lead in introducing immediate border controls to manage the flow.

Index.hu reports that Hungary’s neighbour Serbia would try to ‘push through’ as many as 30,000 migrants before the new Hungarian laws start to bite at midnight. Those migrants will be immediately transported through Hungary and on to the Austria border.

The UNHCR said Hungary is using special trains to transport thousands of migrants from Roszke near the Serbian border to the Austrian frontier without registration.

The move suggests authorities have abandoned attempts to force all those entering European Union territory to be registered on the spot, according to Reuters. UNHCR spokesman Erno Simon said:

“The situation is that after crossing the border these people have arrived at the collection point in Roszke, where there is no official procedure, people are just being collected,”

“Earlier these people were being taken to the registration points … this is not happening now, but rather, buses are taking people from the collection point to the Roszke train station according to our information.”

As Breitbart London has reported, Europe is in disarray and hopelessly divided over how to handle the invasion. Angela Merkel’s unilateral decision to welcome all comers to Germany has exacerbated the crisis and appears to be a contrived plan on her part to involve all of Europe in a problem that is escalating due entirely to her own decisions.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage made the same observation last week. He told Reuters that the images of migrants trying to cram onto trains at a Budapest railway station, hoping to reach Germany, looked like the beginning of a “stampede”.

Farage continued: “It is a very dangerous thing, I think, that she has done.”
