WATCH: Mugabe Heckled by MPs During Speech

Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe was booed by opposition MPs as he addressed the country’s parliament yesterday.

The Guardian reports that the 91-year-old was jeered by members of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change party as he outlined his government’s plan to improve Zimbabwe’s shrinking economy.

“You can’t do much about it,” yelled one. Another shouted at Mugabe: “What about job creation?” while others joined in with “If wishes were horses” and “you have utterly failed”.

The country, which was once regarded as the “break basket of Africa”, has been in a downward spiral for over a decade and will now need to import around 700,000 tonnes of grain to feed its population.
