A man has been arrested after dousing himself with petrol outside BBC New Broadcasting House earlier today. The man poured petrol over himself and was shouting outside the broadcaster’s central London office in Portland Place at about 09:10 BST.
The BBC reports police had been called to reports of a man threatening to set himself on fire. He was restrained by security guards.
A 36-year old man was arrested for public order offences and remains in custody.
Two bags left at the location were being looked at by specialist officers and found to be non-suspicious. New Broadcasting House was not evacuated.
Thierry Henry and actors from the Entourage film were waiting in a van outside the building after police had cordoned off the area.
Cordons were removed by 12:15 BST.
