Royal watchers may have to wait another week for the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child.
The Duchess is thought to be a week overdue and has been swimming to induce labour as the world’s media focuses attention on the Lindo Wing in Paddington, West London, the Telegraph reports.
Parking restrictions outside the private maternity wing, where Kate will be getting a ten per cent discount for her return visit, have been extended to May 5th.
Westminster Council had originally suspended parking outside St Mary’s Hospital until Wednesday as Kensington Palace had expected the forthcoming prince or princess to have arrived by now. The latest developments signal that the couple concede the Duchess, who is in her 41st week of pregnancy, may have to wait a little longer.
It is thought that the latest she would be allowed to wait by doctors before being induced is next Thursday, the day of the general election.
If the soon-to-be fourth in line to the throne arrives next Friday it will be born not only on a day packed with news as election results are announced but also the 70th anniversary of VE Day.
Royal protection officers continue to patrol the hospital 24 hours a day to ensure the Lindo Wing is secure at all times, ready for the Duchess’s arrival at any moment.
Earlier this week speculation was rife that the Duchess was carrying a baby girl after she sent breakfast pastries and coffee to the group of fans waiting outside for the arrival of the Royal party: some have been waiting for almost a month.
