Nigel Farage attacked plans to create a fully functioning European Army, during a debate on the proposal in Brussels. The UKIP leader warned that the EU was “poking the Russian bear” in order to justify creating the new force.
He also suggested Prime Minister David Cameron was deliberately cutting the UK defence budget to enable the EU to fill any gaps. During the speech Farage was heckled by the former Belgian Prime Minister and European Liberal Leader Guy Verhofstadt.
