The mother of ‘the world’s most beautiful girl’ has hit out at claims photos of her daughter are ‘provocative’.
In an interview with the Mail, Glikeriya Pimenova said people who saw photos of Kristina and thought they were sexual “must be a paeodphile”.
The nine year old already has a successful modelling career, including photo shoots for Roberto Cavalli and Armani as well as appearing on the cover of Vogue.
And her mother updates her social media pages with pictures she takes of her daughter doing activities like playing badminton or reading in her room. Her Facebook page has more than 2.1 million likes, and she has 315,000 followers on Instagram, but Kristina is never allowed to read the negative or sinister comments.
Innocent pictures of her daughter, who is photographed without make up and in normal kid’s clothing, have already become the subject of disturbing comments online.
But Glikeriya said she would not bend to criticism and take down pictures of her daughter.
“I do not accept those accusations about sexualisation of my child” she said.
“I am certain in my mind all her photographs are absolutely innocent. I have never asked her to take this or that pose, and in fact I must say she does not especially like it when I am photographing her, so I do it quickly and when she doesn’t notice.”
“You must think like a paedophile in order to see something sexual in these pictures, so it is time for you to see a doctor” she added.
The negative comments have been made of photographs where Kristina is not dressed up or posing. But some have received creepy comments from adult men which Glikeriya said is the main reason behind people’s anger.
“There were many angry comments under a photograph of Kristina playing badminton, she was wearing a T-shirt and shorts’ she said.
“This picture in shorts did not attract any negative comments before. Why would anybody be unhappy about these shorts?
“For God’s sake, what else should a child wear in summer when she is playing badminton? I suggest they sue Roberto Cavalli Junior and Mango Kids for making wicked clothes.”
She pointed to another photograph which caused outrage when it was highlighted in the western media.
“There was a picture of her by the river, where she is holding a bottle of water in her hands” she said. “I took it secretly, she did not even see – and again there were accusations of a ‘sexual pose’ and the wrong sort of clothes.”
And Glikeriya insisted that she would not bend to the criticism she has been receiving.
“I am not deleting this picture of principle, because I think any criticism about it is the fruit of a sick imagination” she said angrily.
“I feel sorry when I read comments and conclusions of people who do not know us, who never met us, but take their right to judge me and my daughter, to shout that she does not have a childhood or that this stupid mother is making money.
In fact, her protective attitude towards her daughter means she is more strict than many of the parents criticising her for the way she is bringing up her own child.
“Kristina does not go online and she will not do so at least until she turns 13. I don’t want her to grow vain and too full of herself, nor to be hurt by either the troll comments or the criticisms which are strongly-felt but could be painful.”
And she refuses all requests for Kristina to take part in TV shows or other media spectacles, seeing these as unhealthy.
“She never took part in any beauty contests for children and we will never do this.”
“I am strongly against such thing. To be honest, I do not like the idea of beauty contests for adults either. I think only in sports it is right to choose the best one.”
Unlike many contestants in pageants, Kristina does not wear make up or tight, revealing clothes.
“It is a rule for serious photo sessions – no make-up for children. We never use any make up, the only exception is made for lips, where it is allowed to use balsam, not to shine them but if they are dry, which often happens with kids.”
Kristina’s career looks likely to continue on it’s upward trajectory and with it no doubt will be people who say that she should not be shown in a way which might attract sexual deviants. But her mother is determined to allow her daughter to have a successful career and catalogue her beautiful girl growing up without bowing to external pressure.
After all, the problem is for the people who see a nine year old girl and think she is sexy, not for a mother and child blessed with good looks who want to document their lives.
