A petition has been launched to stop “the world’s most hated man” from coming to the UK. Julien Blanc, self styled ‘Pick Up Artist’ lectures men on how to get women into bed. However, he has been slammed by campaigners who say he has committed the crime of sexual assault and encourages others to do so.
He hit the headlines this week after his tour of Australia was axed due to concerns over the content of his “lectures”. Police in Victoria confirmed that his stay had been cut short and his visa had been cancelled.
There are also calls for him to be banned from Canada after videos of him choking women were shared online.
1/ I see your tweets & am aware of #KeepJulienBlancOutofCanada. His content is completely counter to Canadian values and common decency.

One video posted online shows Mr Blanc telling people “in Tokyo, if you’re a white male, you can do what you want”.
“I’m just romping through the streets, just grabbing girls’ heads,” he says.
He is due to come to Britain next February for a series of events teaching men how to lure women. The petition started by Caroline Charles has already received 88,875 signatures from people outraged at his brand of misogyny and open promotion of violence against women.
Ms Charles says: “He focuses on tricking women in to having sex in order to make money, it is wrong on every level. It is promoting violence against women and girls, it takes advantage of men and it sends a message to survivors of sexual assaults that they will not be listen to.”
In a nutshell, these techniques involve treating women with disrespect and displaying “panty dropping masculinity”. The Mail reports his predilection for approaching women and clasping their throats whilst putting his fingers on his lips and saying “shhh”.
He has also caused disgust with his #chokinggirlsaroundtheworld and even posted on his twitter account “Dear girls, could you please save me the effort and roofie your own drink”.
Sarah Green, spokesperson for End Violence Against Women Coalition said:
“We hope the Home Office will look at all the evidence available about Julian Blanc’s activities and refuse him a visa.
“His so called ‘pick up coaching’ promotes behaviour amounting to sexual harassment and sexual assault. his comments and abuse of Asian women are deeply racist.
“More broadly, Julien Blanc is part of a culture which trivialises abuse of women and racism. At worst this tells victims of abuse that what has happened to them doesn’t matter and gives potential abusers the nod that such behaviour will not be taken seriously.
“We need an urgent public conversation about why a man like this can find a market and profit from the peddling of such vile misogyny.”
The petitioners hope that Home Secretary Theresa May will use her position to ban his entry to the UK. She has previously exercised such powers when controversial Dutch Politician Geert Wilders was due to present his video Fitna at the Houses of Parliament. He was prevented from doing so despite being an EU Citizen and a legitimately elected politician over concerns that he was inciting religious hatred.
When asked about the petition by TIME, the UK’s Home Office noted that they did not comment on individual cases, but added that Theresa May, Britain’s Home Secretary, “has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good.
However a rival petition has been set up saying that he should be allowed into the UK and calling for a halt to censorship. This has only received the support of 2,400 people.
Some people argue that Blanc should be allowed in to the UK so that his views may be challenged and in fact stopping someone from speaking is preventing freedom of speech.
Former editor of Loaded magazine Martin Daubney told Sky News that banning Mr Blanc would be “counterproductive”.
“No one knew who this guy was a few weeks ago – now he’s Time magazine’s most hated man in the world,” he said.
“It’s not the leader of Islamic State – it’s a pick-up artist. He’s probably delighted about this. Why not get him into the country and expose him as the moron he is. Don’t make a martyr of a moron.”
