BERA, Malaysia, 26th October, 2014 (WAM) — As a move to prepare for the Olympic Games in 2020, Japan will import Halal products from Malaysia to be marketed throughout the country, according to Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said China would be the gateway for Halal products into Japan and the country’s largest hypermarket, Aeon, which has 1,800 outlets, would market the products, certified by the Department of Islamic Development in Malaysia.
Yaakob said that a joint committee would be established soon to facilitate the export of Halal products to Japan. He concluded by saying that Halal products from Malaysia enjoyed a good market overseas and received numerous enquiries from many countries including China, Bahrain, Qatar and several Middle East countries.
