The Europhile favourite for the next President of the European Commission has arrogantly tweeted about his confidence this morning, claiming that he is sure to be the next Commission President.

The move has already attracted opprobrium from media sources, as the position is unelected an unaccountable to the European public. It is also the most powerful position in the European Union.

But Juncker’s confidence may be misplaced. German Chancellor, thought of as the kingmaker for the role yesterday floated the idea of IMF chief Christine Lagarde being parachuted into the position.

Juncker’s aspirations have been opposed by British Prime Minister David Cameron due to his insistence on creating a United States of Europe, and taking more powers from national parliaments.

Juncker is known to be a fan of a united European military force.
