Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP, has accused the European Union of having “blood on its hands” over it’s handling of the crisis in Crimea. He also accused the government of allowing the EU to pursue an “imperialist, expansionist” agenda, provoking a response from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The UKIP Leader accused Brussels of “geeing up” thousands of Ukrainians to take to the streets to protest President Yanukovych’s rejection of an association deal with the EU. The comments came during last night’s debate between Farage and Nick Clegg over Europe.

Mr Farage said: “We should hang our heads in shame. We have given a false series of hopes to a group of people in the western Ukraine and so geed up were they that they actually toppled their own elected leader.

“That provoked Mr Putin and I think the European Union, frankly, does have blood on its hands in the Ukraine. I don’t want a European army, navy, air force or a European foreign policy. It has not been a thing for good in the Ukraine.”

Breitbart London has previously reported on the European Union’s overt expansionist aims, and the organisation’s pouring of hundreds of millions of euros into Ukraine as a part of this agenda. Farage, it could be argued, is the only politician willing to discuss this openly.

However, Nick Clegg stood by the actions of the European Union, saying: “It was very moving to see those people demonstrating for their freedoms, demonstrating for their rights and some of them dying for it in Kiev.”

Clegg said he understood why countries want to join “the family of nations within the European Union”, despite the need to reform the EU.
