The UK-based Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) – which is noted for its support for Hezbollah – yesterday announced the winner of their risible ‘Islamophobe of the Year’ prize. The winner was none other than our own Managing Editor, Raheem Kassam!
The IHRC has been called a ‘Khomeinist group’, and has campaigned on behalf of Omar Abdel-Rahman, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for his part in the World Trade Center bombings of 1993.
In its wisdom, the IHRC decided to hand out awards in absentia at a grotty hotel in Wembley, London.
The winner of the UK prize was Raheem Kassam, Managing Editor of Breitbart London, beating competition from the UK’s Home Secretary Teresa May, author Douglas Murray, and Muslim counter-extremism campaigner Maajid Nawaz. Teresa May was initally the favourite to take the award.
Bizarrely, despite his repeated kowtowing to hostile regimes and Islamists, Barack Obama received the honours for the U.S. prize, beating out competition from blogger Pamela Gellar, and others.
Reporting on the ‘awards ceremony’, the IHRC stated in a press release:
“Obama came in streets ahead of a gallery of fellow rogues which included other prominent politicians including French President Francois Hollande – cited for his country’s invasion of Mali – and the British Home Secretary Theresa May for a host of sins including extraditing Asperger’s sufferer Talha Ahsan to the United States, stripping Muslims of their citizenship, and most recently thinking about applying “anti-terror” ASBO-style punishments for British Muslims who are merely “suspected” of so-called terrorist activities.”
Speaking of Kassam, the IHRC said:
“The clear winner in the UK is a relative newcomer to the Islamophobia industry, Raheem Kassam. Kassam is a Muslim neo-con who has quickly made himself the darling of the British right by attacking Muslim organisations and figures as extremists for defending Muslims’ rights.”
Kassam comments to Breitbart London: “It’s an honour to have won such a stupid award from such a devious organisation. It proves that we’re on the right side of history that people who back extremists and loons are doing everything they can (which isn’t much) to try and smear me. I’m tempted to film an acceptance speech video, and maybe burst into tears like Gweneth Paltrow… I’d like to thank the (Zionist Academy)… that sort of thing!”
