‘Harriet the Spy’ Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Dies At 39

Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy and the television show Gossip Girl, has died. She was 39.

Law enforcement officials revealed to ABC News that Trachtenberg was discovered dead in her apartment in New York City by her mother.

While law enforcement officials told the outlet that Trachtenberg was “believed to have died of natural causes,” they noted that she had recently received a liver transplant and “may have been experiencing complications.”

Law enforcement officials also confirmed to the New York Post that Trachtenberg was “unconscious and unresponsive” when police found her, and was later “pronounced dead by EMS workers.”

TMZ reported that “police and paramedics responded to a call for a woman in cardiac arrest.”

Trachtenberg, who was born on October 11, 1985, also appeared as Dawn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Maggie O’Donnell in the film 17 Again alongside now-deceased Friends star Matthew Perry.

She also received a Teen Choice Award nomination for her role in Buffy, according to ABC News.
