A first of its kind, behind the scenes documentary on the work that goes into being the first lady has landed a $40 million distribution deal. Melania Trump’s concept, which centers around her life and work as she reenters the White House, kicked off a bidding war between major Hollywood studios and resulted in a blockbuster deal with Amazon.
The Melania Trump documentary, which is set for a global theatrical and streaming release, formed from a series of conversations between the first lady and her longtime senior advisor Marc Beckman.
Mrs. Trump wants audiences in the U.S. and around the world to see, in a real and raw way, what really happens behind the scenes for a first lady as she prepares to return to the White House and the important work of the administration, Beckman told Breitbart News.
Filming will be localized, Beckman says, to the final weeks of December and the first few weeks of January 2025.
Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is helming the documentary.
Mrs. Trump will serve as executive producer on the feature documentary, which will receive a theatrical run before becoming available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The feature will offer a detailed look into her daily life and will include brief appearances by President-elect Donald Trump and their son, Barron.
The Amazon deal follows the successful release of Mrs. Trump’s first book, a number one bestseller, Melania. As noted in her bestseller, Mrs. Trump has spent years building her business brand.
Melania Trump’s major deal comes years after Hollywood and the establishment entertainment press gave her the cold shoulder during her husband’s first term.
Amazon is owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos — a former Trump antagonist and owner of The Washington Post who has recently changed his attitude in the wake of the November landslide election.
