Hollywood couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are donating $400,000 to four New York City area hospitals hit by the coronavirus, according to a report from E! News. Their donation comes after they gave $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada to support the groups’ efforts during the worldwide pandemic.

E! News reported Monday that Ryan Reynolds and Lively made a personal donation of $100,000 to each of the four hardest hit hospitals in the New York City area, including Elmhurst, NYU Hospital, Mount Sinai, and Northern Westchester.

The celebrity news outlet said the couple wants to continue encouraging people around the country to help their communities, local hospitals, and healthcare workers during this time.

The couples’ gesture stands in contrast to pop star Pharrell Williams, who asked his fans to donate to a GoFundMe campaign intended to benefit hospitals during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Hospitals are running low on masks, gowns, and other critical items. We need to replenish their supplies. Take action, make a donation, and ask others to join the fight. We’re in this together. Let’s protect the responders on the frontlines,” the “Happy” singer said last week.

Other celebrities who have donated large sums include Kanye West, who has given an undisclosed amount to organizations in Los Angeles and Chicago, according to ABC News.  Angelina Jolie has reportedly donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry to help children with limited access to meals due to school closures.

Fashion label Ralph Lauren said it is giving $10 million for COVID-19 relief through its charitable foundation.
