The Simpsons 2007 movie predicted that actor Tom Hanks would self-quarantine in the future. And this week, the Oscar-winner has done just that, after contracting the Chinese coronavirus.
Officials in Queensland, Australia, confirmed on Thursday that Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are currently being monitored at the Gold Coast University Hospital where they are “in a stable condition.”
Back in 2007, the Forest Gump actor made a cameo appearance in The Simpsons Movie, where he is seen advertising a “new Grand Canyon” that is “nowhere near where anything is or ever was.”
“This is Tom Hanks saying if you see me in person, please, please leave me be,” he says at one point.
The Simpsons are known for their extraordinary number of correct predictions, including Donald Trump’s presidency, the National Security Agency (NSA) spying scandal, and the construction of the London Shard.
Hanks, who is in Australia working on director Baz Luhrmann’s untitled biopic of Elvis Presley, said on Thursday that he and his wife felt a “bit tired” with “colds” and “body aches.”
“To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” Hanks said. “Well now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”
