Several celebrities joined together to read the story of a Honduran asylum-seeker who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border with her minor child for a new video released by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Actors and entertainers, including Amy Schumer, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Franco, Ryan Reynolds, Glenn Close, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Jeff Bridgess collaborated on the ACLU video, reading aloud the story of a Honduran asylum-seeker named Miriam who was taken into federal custody after illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Subsequently, her minor child was temporarily separated from her.
Now, the asylum-seeker is being represented by the ACLU to stop President Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy at the border, where all illegal aliens and border crossers are criminally prosecuted. This process, because of federal law, forces adults traveling with minor children to be separated.
The celebrities read the story of the asylum-seeker in the montage below.
As Breitbart News reported, the federal government has been separating border crossing families since before 2001 and throughout the Bush and Obama administrations, court records reveal.
Likewise, Breitbart News has exposed how child border crossers were detained without their illegal alien guardians under the Obama administration. The total number of border crossing children who were separated from the adults they arrived with at the border by the Obama administration is unknown, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not track those records at the time.
