An unapologetic Roseanne Barr sat down with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon on Monday and explained that she’s not going to knock anyone who didn’t vote for Donald Trump like she did and that she doesn’t “give a f*ck” about what people think of her support of him.
After lauding the historic success of Barr’s return to TV and the mega ratings for the Roseanne revival, Fallon asked about the critics who are sour over her support of Trump.
“Oh yeah, people are mad about that. But you know, I don’t give a fuck,” Barr quickly responded.
“I mean, everybody had to choose for themselves, according to their own conscience, who they felt was the lesser of two evils,” Barr said of the 2016 presidential election. “You know, everybody chose that, so I’m not going to put anybody down who didn’t vote like me. This is America, it’s a free country, and when you weigh it all together, I just felt like we needed a whole new thing. All the way. Bottom to top.”
Earlier this week, Barr shared why she thought her Conner family matriarch should be a pro-Trump character when it was decided to bring back the hit show.
“I didn’t have Roseanne the character become a Trump supporter because I am. I had her become a Trump supporter because she’s a working class person. And it is the working class that elected Donald Trump,” Barr explained to a packed audience at the Jerusalem Post Conference. “So in being true to that little demographic, I had to do it.”
“And besides I just wanted someone to do it. And none of the actors, they were like, ‘no way.’” Roseanne Barr continued, adding, “Well somebody has to voice what 63 percent of the American population thinks — and growing by the day.”
