Long-running animated comedy series Family Guy boasted of predicting two major figures involved in Hollywood’s explosive sexual misconduct scandal in its latest Emmy Awards campaign mailer.
“We predicted Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein. Open DVD to see who’s next,” the mailer cover reads. According to Deadline, the mailer contains a mirror inside, reflecting the face of Emmy voters.
Last year, both Spacey and Weinstein were hit with numerous allegations of sexual crimes ranging from harassment to rape, although Family Guy had previously hinted at their sexual behavior before.
A clip from an episode in 2005 shows baby Stewie Griffin running naked through a shopping mall screaming: “Help! I’ve escaped from Kevin Spacey’s basement!”
In 2013, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane also made a risqué joke at the Oscars following the nomination of five women for Best Supporting Actress.
“Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein,” he quipped.

The show’s Emmy Mailers have long been a source of controversy. In 2012, the mailer demanded greater appreciation from “bloated, overprivileged Brentwood Jews.”
Last year, the mailer had the series patriarch Peter Griffin mocking White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway, with the tagline: “Alternative fact: we are the smartest comedy on Television,” a reference to a comment Conway made about a disputed piece of information.
In 2016, the mailer also had Griffin dressed as Donald Trump, with the caption: “As long as we’re voting for dumb loudmouths, can I get an Emmy?”
The show, currently in its 16th season, has already won three Emmy’s and dozens of nominations but has never won an Emmy in the prestigious Outstanding Animated Program or Outstanding Comedy Series categories.
