Five more women have accused music executive and The Four judge Charlie Walk of sexual harassment.
Rolling Stone conducted a month-long investigation and reported allegations against Walk during his time at both Columbia and Republic Records dating back multiple decades, which included “making sexual comments, sending unsolicited, sexually explicit pictures and video, exposing his penis and inappropriately touching them both in private and in crowded meetings.”
Other former employees told the outlet that the allegations “exemplified a decades-long pattern” of behavior and that Walk’s alleged behavior was an “open secret.” Walk’s alleged victims tended to be young females who were just starting out in the industry.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Walk denied all the allegations against him:
I did not do these things and this is not who I am. Throughout my career I have always sought to conduct myself professionally and appropriately. It is upsetting to be presented with false claims from long ago that I know to be untrue and were never reported. I support the national discussion taking place right now because I believe fully in the importance in treating everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
The latest allegations come less than a month after the Fox broadcast network fired Walk over the initial claims of harassment and groping, while his company Republic Records placed him on indefinite leave to conduct an internal investigation.
“Republic Records is committed to a safe workplace environment where employees are treated fairly and respectfully,” the company said in a statement last month.
“We have retained an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation of this matter and have encouraged anyone who has relevant information to speak to the firm’s investigators. Mr. Walk has been placed on leave, and will remain on leave for the duration of the investigation.”
