Actress Anne Heche claims that she was fired from a Harvey Weinstein-produced film project after refusing to give oral sex to the disgraced movie mogul.
“I personally did not suck Harvey’s dick, although he showed it to me and I got out of the room before there was any physical contact,” she said during an episode of the Allegedly with Theo Vonn & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast on Wednesday, People reports.
“The fact is, I was fired from a job that I had been hired for in Miramax,” the Six Days, Seven Nights star continued. “The repercussions of standing up for yourself were as deep and targeted as some of the scars of the women who actually got more physically, unfortunately, involved.”
Heche, who grabbed headlines for her relationship with comedian Ellen de Generes in the 1990’s, added that Weinstein typically targeted younger women and she did not speak out about the incident for fear of repercussions.
“First of all, you were threatened the second you walk out the door,” she explained. “That’s why every one of us was 19, 20, 21 or 22. He didn’t go after the 40-year-old woman. He hits on me when I’m 19, 20, 21, 22, vulnerable, scared, frightened.”
“The efforts he made to have people followed, to have spies, to have threats, he fired people,” she continued. “You’re talking about girls, young actresses are very vulnerable. A lot of us come from hurt backgrounds, abusive backgrounds.”
Weinstein, 65, has been accused by scores of women of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to rape, leading to a wider sexual abuse scandal across Hollywood. He is currently seeking treatment for sex addiction at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort in Scottsdale.
A spokesperson for Weinstein has previously claimed that he “unequivocally denies” all allegations of non-consensual sex, and claimed that it “fiction to suggest that any individuals were targeted or suppressed at any time.”
