Hillary Clinton said she’ll “keep speaking out” for gun control Wednesday on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Clinton lamented Congressional inaction on gun control, saying, “I can’t believe that one whole political party in the greatest country on Earth is totally sold to the gun lobby and will do whatever they are ordered to do, despite the loss of life.”
The former Democratic presidential candidate criticized the fact that one of President Trump’s first actions on guns was to repeal Barack Obama’s Social Security gun ban and she claimed that the repeal allows people with mental problems to purchase guns. She said, “This makes no sense, and the vast majority of Americans, and the vast majority of gun owners know we need common-sense gun safety measures, so I’m going to keep fighting for it.”
This pledge comes two days after she blamed the NRA for the shooting in Las Vegas.
It also follows her suggestion that Sunday’s attack would have been even worse if the attacker had used a “silencer.” She tweeted:
Clinton’s tweet demonstrates a complete lack of understanding regarding the attacker’s tactical advantage, from his elevated position to the way the concert goers were bunched together. And it also misrepresents suppressors, which do not silence guns. Rather, they eliminate the ear-damaging sound wave emitted when a bullet is fired. However, the gunshot is still audible.
