Comedian Sarah Silverman announced a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience Wednesday for a lucky fan to meet her during the taping of her new talk show, I Love You, America, in exchange for a donation to abortion business Planned Parenthood.
Supporters of Planned Parenthood – through the online international fundraising platform known as Omaze – will have a chance to win:
- Enjoy one-on-one time and possibly the funniest conversation ever with Sarah Silverman
- Be one of the first people to sneak a peek at Sarah’s new show, I Love You, America… from VIP, in-studio seats
- Get flown out to LA and put up in a 4-star hotel
Omaze has partnered with Planned Parenthood in a campaign called “United We Plan,” which specifically supports the abortion provider.
The platform says about Silverman’s new campaign for Planned Parenthood:
We love Sarah Silverman for her silliness, her willingness to speak her mind and her “aggressively dumb” sense of humor (her words, not ours). And now, we love that she’s opening her studio doors to you and your guest for an all-access look at her new show, I Love You, America. Head to Los Angeles, where you’ll meet up with Sarah on set and be one of the first people ever to witness the new show from VIP seats and with VIP treatment, too. Get quality time with Sarah, an unforgettable conversation (Will there be poop jokes? Probably.) and an epic trip to Hollywood. Plus, bragging rights when you get back home. We love you, Sarah Silverman. Flights and hotel included.
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles provides the following information on Omaze’s website:
“Did you know that 1 in 5 women in our country has relied on a Planned Parenthood health center at some point in her lifetime? Planned Parenthood has been around for 100 years but despite the vast majority of Americans who are united in their support for Planned Parenthood, relentless political attacks threaten the organization’s ability to care for its patients. By getting this exclusive shirt, you’re supporting Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) as we provide critical reproductive health care like birth control, cancer screenings, and STD testing and treatment. PPLA is committed to expanding access to these services in Los Angeles and beyond, and is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with efforts across the nation to advance equality. Your support is helping create a country where all women—of every background, race, religion, and ethnicity—are treated as equal.”

The winner of the one-on-one time with Silverman is scheduled to be announced “on or around November 15, 2017.”
Omaze exchanges what it calls “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences and merchandise for financial support for charities. The site was founded by Ryan Cummins and Matt Pohlson, who, according to the website, “worked together as executive producers for the Clinton Foundation.”
The platform asks for donations of at least $10 for a chance to win an “experience.” One person among the contributors for a specific campaign is then picked at random to win his or her “dream experience.”
A “once-in-a-lifetime” experience could be meeting Silverman at a taping of her show, or serving as Uzo Aduba’s wingman on the set of Orange Is the New Black — both for donating to Planned Parenthood. Other Omaze campaigns to support the abortion chain include “grab dinner with Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy in NYC,” and “Join Elisabeth Moss on the set of The Handmaid’s Tale.”
In its latest annual report, released in May, Planned Parenthood increased its number of abortions performed last year to 328,348 — but showed 136,244 fewer contraception services than the year before. The organization also reveals a significant drop in many of its other non-abortion services, including cancer screenings and prenatal services.
Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding and its profits, however, have increased over the past year.
The organization shows an increase in government reimbursement and grants this past year, reporting $554.6 million in taxpayer funding, while in 2014-2015 it reported $553.7 million. The group’s profits rose from $58.8 million in 2014-2015 to $77.5 million in 2015-2016.
