STXfilms released the first trailer for Molly’s Game on Tuesday, the Jessica Chastain-starring, based-on-a-true-story thriller that marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin.
Molly’s Game centers on Molly Bloom (Chastain), the so-called “Princess of Poker,” a former cocktail waitress in her mid-20s who wound up hosting one of the most exclusive poker games on the planet. Celebrity players reportedly included Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and a slew of other Hollywood executives, business titans, and international businessmen, and, according to Bloom’s own account of the games, the pots sometimes reached $500,000 before the first cards were even dealt.
The trailer promises plenty of high-stakes poker action, along with the fallout from games, as Bloom faced federal charges over her role.
Chastain stars alongside Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Chris O’Dowd and Jeremy Strong. Sorkin (The Social Network) wrote and directed the film.
Molly’s Game is in theaters November 22.
