Will Smith is a diehard Los Angeles Police Department officer tasked with finding an all-powerful magical wand and saving the world in the first trailer for Netflix’s forthcoming sci-fi film Bright.
The film re-teams Smith, who plays veteran LAPD cop Scott Ward, with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer. The three-minute trailer sees Smith dodging bullets and cheating death alongside his partner Nick Jakoby, played by Joel Edgerton.
In a futuristic world where magical creatures like orcs, elves, and fairies exist alongside humans, it’s up to the LAPD’s finest to find an all-powerful magic wand that everyone seems to be after.
Costing north of $90 million, Bright is one of Netflix’s most expensive feature films — the streaming giant dropped $60 million on its Brad Pitt-starring war comedy, War Machine and reportedly paid over $100 million for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming mob movie The Irishman.
Co-starring Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Happy Anderson, and Kenneth Choi, Bright is scheduled for release on Netflix on December 22.
