Actor Anthony Michael Hall has been charged with felony battery with serious bodily injury after a September incident in which he allegedly shoved another man to the ground and broke his wrist outside his California home.
According to a complaint obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the 48-year-old actor — best known for roles in hit 80s movies including The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles — allegedly got into a heated argument with a neighbor outside his Playa del Rey condominium that later turned physical.
The incident was reportedly captured on videotape. The man, identified as Richard Samson, sustained a broken wrist and a back injury after the alleged incident, which reportedly began over a gate that was left open.
Hall was reportedly charged on November 17 but has not yet surrendered to police. The actor could face up to seven years in jail if convicted.
According to the Associated Press, Hall was arrested at his West Hollywood condominium in 2011 on suspicion of disturbing the peace. He was reported to have later been released on $500,000 bail.
Hall continues to act. He appeared in the Oscar-nominated 2014 film Foxcatcher and is set to appear in Ben Affleck’s upcoming film Live By Night as well as Brad Pitt’s War Machine.
