Compton, California rapper The Game was scheduled to perform Thursday night at the Roseland Theater in downtown Portland when a brawl broke out, followed by gunfire, forcing the evacuation of the venue.
Police told local ABC affiliate KGW news reporter Mike Benner that a fight occurred at around 10:30 p.m. and concertgoers quickly fled the theater after at least one gunshot was heard during the show.
According to Benner: “No gunshot victims located although a victim may have left before police arrived, officers spotted known gang associates in venue.”
Police also said they uncovered a bullet hole in the stage. Officers said the evacuated crowd had become “hostile,” as the police presence on the scene escalated.
Video footage obtained by TMZ showed a frantic scene inside the venue as frightened concertgoers fled the dance floor and rush out of the venue. TMZ further reported that the rapper was in his dressing room when the gunfire broke out.
The Portland Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the incident.
The Game has been involved in an ongoing feud with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill. The two artists have traded social media jabs for weeks following The Game’s accusation that Meek Mill implicated him in the robbery of singer Sean Kingston at an L.A. nightclub last June.
The Game reportedly never took the stage to perform, according to TMZ. Police reportedly believe the violence at the concert was tied to local gangs.
