CBS Films and Lionsgate released the first trailer for Patriots Day, the Mark Wahlberg-starring film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, on Wednesday.

Wahlberg is Boston Police Sgt. Tommy Saunders, who wakes up on the morning of April 15, 2013 and takes issue with the bright-yellow police-issue vest he’s required to wear to patrol the Boston Marathon.

“Why are you laughing? I look like a clown,” Wahlberg teases his wife (Michelle Monaghan). “I’m basically a crossing guard. You got my whistle, my stop sign?”

Patriots Day centers on Saunders and Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman) in the lead-up to and aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, including the city-wide manhunt for the terrorists who committed the crime.

JK Simmons and Kevin Bacon co-star.

Patriots Day will mark the third collaboration between Wahlberg and director Peter Berg after 2013’s Lone Survivor and this year’s Deepwater Horizon. Berg co-wrote the script with Paul Tamasy, Matt Charman and Eric Johnson.

Patriots Day hits theaters December 21 in limited release and expands nationwide on January 13, 2017.
