Amber Heard has filed to dismiss her domestic violence restraining order against Johnny Depp as the two Hollywood stars have reportedly settled their messy and highly publicized divorce.
According to the Daily Mail, Depp, 53, and Heard, 30, reached a settlement late Monday night that will see the Pirates of the Caribbean star pay his now ex-wife “close to $10 million.”
TMZ reports the figure is $7 million.
Heard reportedly filed court papers Tuesday morning withdrawing her request for a domestic violence restraining order, which she first filed after a May 21 incident in which she alleged Depp struck her in the face during a violent fight.
The ex-couple released a joint statement Tuesday.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” they said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “Neither party has lied or made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future.”
Tuesday’s settlement caps a nasty, months-long divorce battle that began in late May when Heard brought photos of her apparently bruised face to a California courtroom to secure a restraining order against Depp, from whom she had filed for divorce just days earlier.
But police who arrived at the couple’s Los Angeles apartment on the night of the reported fight said they saw no evidence of injuries consistent with the abuse Heard said she had suffered. The Rum Diary actress had reportedly told police that the couple had been fighting, but declined to file a police report.
The back-and-forth accusations, denials and threats of lawsuits culminated this week with the release of photographs appearing to show Depp’s mutilated hand. The actor had allegedly sliced off a fingertip while in a verbal altercation with Heard, and had used a combination of his blood and blue paint to scrawl a message on a mirror accusing the actress of having an affair with actor Billy Bob Thornton. Thornton has vigorously denied having an affair with Heard.
According to TMZ, attorneys for Depp and Heard began finalizing the details of the settlement after Heard sat for a seven-hour deposition in Los Angeles on Saturday.
