Pop icon Cher is set to headline three LGBT-focused fundraisers for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in three different states in August.
The fundraisers are set for August 19 in Miami, August 20 on New York’s Fire Island and August 21 in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Clinton will reportedly join the pop singer at that last event.
“This shows who is a friend of our community and who isn’t,” the Miami fundraiser’s co-host Tony Lima, an executive director of a gay rights group in the city, told Politico Thursday.
“If you look at the community as a whole, Cher has been an icon in the gay community since the 60s,” he added. “Older gay men, from their 40s to the 70s, just love her.”
Tickets for the Miami fundraiser reportedly start at $250 for general admission. Those who contribute $5,000 can have their picture taken with Cher. Proceeds from the event will go to the Hillary Victory Fund joint fundraising committee.
Clinton was not expected to appear at either the Miami or Fire Island fundraisers.
Cher has been very vocal about her support for Clinton on Twitter. In April, the singer tweeted saying she’s “proud” to support Clinton’s presidential bid.
“#ImWithHer I’m Proud 2 Support Hillary Choose who You”Believe In”& Go [balls] 2 The Wall.,NO MATTER WHAT PPL THINK.”
Cher has also used the social media platform to relentlessly trash GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. In June, she claimed that Muslims “all hate Trump,” and insisted that terrorism would be worse under a President Trump.
Cher isn’t the only gay icon who will host a fundraiser for Clinton. Barbra Streisand will host an “LGBT for Hillary” fundraiser at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on September 9, where meet-and-greet tickets are going for $250,000.
Clinton will also be in Los Angeles later this month for two high-dollar fundraisers at the homes of actor Leonardo DiCaprio and billionaire entertainment mogul Haim Saban.
