Dozens of people were injured, one critically, after a metal barrier collapsed at a Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert, sending fans tumbling to the concrete in front of the stage.
The rappers were performing at the BB&T Center in Camden, New Jersey Friday night when a barrier in front of the stage suddenly collapsed just after 10:00 p.m., according to CBS News.
Video of the incident was captured by a concert attendee and posted to social media:
According to NBC News, 20 people were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, while another 22 were treated at other area hospitals. Most of the injured suffered broken bones and simple bumps and bruises, a Camden police spokesperson told the outlet.
The performance was reportedly halted as the rappers learned what happened, and the rest of the concert was later cancelled.
“People started piling on each other and people just started running,” one witness, Katie Colbridge, told NBC. “All you see were tears going down their face. You could see friends holding onto each other, like clenching, like making sure that all their people were there.”
In a statement, concert organizer Live Nation said it was “closely following” the injured attendees’ recovery and was working with local authorities and engineers to determine the cause of the barrier’s failure.
Snoop Dogg took to Twitter to express well-wishes to the injured fans.
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s “High Road Tour” continues Sunday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York.
