First Lady Michelle Obama joined The Late Late Show’s James Corden on his popular viral skit “Carpool Karaoke” Wednesday night, where the pair ran through hits from Beyoncé and Stevie Wonder, among others.
Obama and Corden sang a medley of hits, including Beyoncé’s 2008 chart-topper “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.”
After harmonizing to Beyoncé, Mrs. Obama said, “We were making honey in the [Bey]hive, to put in our Lemonade!” a reference to the singer’s politically-charged, Black Lives Matter-inspired album of the same name.
Corden and Obama were also joined later in the 15-minute segment by Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Missy Elliott.
With the “Get Ur Freak On” singer in tow, the three drove around the White House grounds and performed the rapper’s hit song.
The third song performed was “This Is For My Girls,” a single that serves as the anthem for the First Lady’s Let Girls Learn initiative.
Let Girls Learn initiative helps the “62 million girls worldwide who aren’t in school for different reasons,” Obama said. “So much could be corrected if girls were educated and had power over their lives.”
