In the wake of recent police shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge, rapper and actor Ice Cube says he will continue to perform his song “F*ck the Police” at concerts.
Ice Cube was asked by a TMZ photographer whether he had considered halting live performances of the song.
“Naw,” Cube replied.
“You’ll continue to perform it?” the TMZ reporter asks.
“Yeah,” Cube said.
When asked if anyone has pressured him to stop performing the 1988 protest song, originally performed by gangsta rap group N.W.A., Cube said “Pressure? Ain’t nobody said nothing to me.”
“I ain’t gonna change nothing I do,” he added, “because I ain’t do nothing wrong.”
The Barbershop: The Next Cut star recently took to Twitter and tweeted, “Obama, what the f*ck are you going to do to stop #TheWarOnUs ?”
In fact, Ice Cube has spent the last several weeks posting tweets to his 2.8 million followers about the police-involved deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. But the rapper has yet to tweet about the ambush and murder of five Dallas police officers at the hands of Houston New Black Panther Party member Micah X. Johnson, or the recent ambush and murder of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The profane refrain is often heard at Black Lives Matter rallies, and is shouted during protests.
Ice Cube performed “F*ck the Police” as recently as July 9 at the 2016 Le Festival d’été de Québec (Quebec City Summer Festival), just two days after Johnson killed five officers in Dallas, Texas.
