Denzel Washington assembles a group of gun-slinging cowboys to protect a small Western town from a villainous industrialist in the first full trailer for The Magnificent Seven, released Monday.
Washington plays bounty hunter Sam Chisolm, contracted by Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett) to protect the town and its people from the nefarious Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard). But Chisolm can’t do it alone, so he enlists the help of six others — outlaws played by Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ethan Hawke, Byung-Hun Lee, Martin Sensmeier and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo — to aid him in his mission.
The first full trailer for the remake of the 1960 Steve McQueen-Yul Brynner classic (and Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai) promises plenty of shootouts, explosions and well-timed one-liners.
“Every man’s got the right to choose where he dies,” Chisolm solemnly says in the trailer.
The Magnificent Seven is directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) off of a screenplay by Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer).
The film is in theaters September 23.
