Pro-abortion celebrities reacted to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt Monday striking down Texas’s HB2 as unconstitutional.

Female Hollywood luminaries were elated after the 5-3 SCOTUS ruling, which struck down restrictions on abortion in Texas. Female stars including actresses Olivia Wilde, Lena Dunham, Mindy Kaling, Elizabeth Banks and singer Cher, among others, all took to Twitter and Instagram to announce their excitement.

Vinyl star Olivia Wilde called Monday’s ruling a “crucial step forward for reproductive rights.”

The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling and The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks saw the ruling as a sign that Monday would be a “fun day.”

Girls creator and feminist activist Lena Dunham thanked the SCOTUS for “sending a booming message that our bodies belong to US!”

Cher tweeted, “SUPREME COURT SMACK DOWN Of BS TEXAS ABORTION LAW,IS VICTORY 4WOMENS RIGHT 2CHOOSE.”

Television personality Star Jones got religious, tweeting “Shouting #Hallelujah that  #womenshealth is on the front burner & #SCOTUS came down on the right side of the law!

Hollywood women weren’t the only pro-choice celebrities praising today’s news.

Filmaker Michael Moore chimed in, tweeting “Supreme Court just threw out Texas’ right wing abortion law w/ a 5-3 vote. Blocking Obama’s replacement for Scalia is sure working out well!”

Gay right activist and singer Clay Aiken had this to say:

Media mogul Russell Simmons had just two words to say, “Good news.”
