Celebrity supporters of Democrat presidential contenders Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders took to social media on Tuesday to proudly declare that they had voted in the day’s primary — and urged others to do the same.
Six states held their presidential primary on Tuesday, including California, where Clinton and Sanders were locked in a statistical dead heat as polling locations opened in the morning.
Musicians and actors including Katy Perry, Eva Longoria and Elizabeth Banks tweeted their support for Clinton. Perry also included a photo urging Californians to vote for Senate candidate Kamala Harris:
While those in the Sanders camp, including actors Mark Ruffalo and Sarah Silverman, tweeted their own get-out-the-vote messages:
Still others simply reminded citizens to show up at the polls, regardless of their candidate’s preference:
Filmmaker Michael Moore also marveled at the “wonder” of self-described “democratic socialist” Sanders’s wide base of support.
