MTV is urging viewers to pinpoint politicians who want teachers to be armed for self-defense–and then vote those politicians out of office.
In a video segment called “The Racket,” MTV pointed out that the state of Tennessee recently enacted a law to become the tenth state to adopt legislation allowing teachers to be armed for self-defense. Then the network ridiculed the sponsor of that legislation, Representative Andy Holt (R-Dresden), for saying he would “like to see 100 percent removal of all gun-free zones in public places.”
MTV also quoted an academic study suggesting concealed carry does not make one safer, and then quoted the fake 2014 FBI study that attempted to show that armed citizens do not deter mass shootings. Breitbart News previously reported that this particular FBI study was released September 24, 2014, and its illogical patterns betrayed its political bias from the start. On June 9, 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported that authors of the study had finally come forward and admitted they had created data used in the study because they could not find real data that supported the thesis that armed citizens do not stop mass shootings.
MTV also pointed to Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s (R) recent veto of campus carry and lauded the arguments he used against allowing law-abiding citizens to be armed on campus for self-defense. The network overlooked the fact that on the very day Deal vetoed campus carry, May 3, 2016, an unarmed law-abiding student was killed while trying to save two women who were under attack on the Fort Valley State University campus.
In the end, MTV orders viewers to find out which politicians support allowing teachers to be armed for self-defense and “vote them out” of office. The network also urges viewers to support policies that ban all guns on campus, period. In other words, support the type of gun ban that was in place on the Virginia Tech campus on April 16, 2007, when Seung-Hui Cho opened fire on unarmed innocents, killing 32. This is the same kind of gun ban that was in place on the Sandy Hook Elementary School campus on December 14, 2012, when Adam Lanza opened fire and killed 26 defenseless law-abiding citizens. It is the very ban that was in place at Umpqua Community College on October 1, 2015, when Chris Mercer Harper shot and killed nine unarmed innocent people.
