Less than one week after making the point that “Americans will be fine” if Donald Trump becomes the Republican presidential nominee, Tom Hanks has changed his tune and is now betting against the real estate magnate.
“I think that man will be president right about the time when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes,” Hanks told Sky News during the premiere of his latest film A Hologram for the King. “Take it from me,” he added.
Hanks, who is an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, also took a shot at Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan.
“Here’s the problem: America’s already great, so I don’t know what he is talking about,” Hanks said.
The two-time Oscar winner helped Hillary Clinton raise campaign cash last August during a $2,700 per person fundraiser at the plush Los Angeles home of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun.
Just a few days ago, Hanks told a CBS This Morning panel that America will survive and thrive with or without a Trump presidency.
“We’re the greatest, most resilient nation in the history of all of civilization. We’ll be fine. We’ve worked ourselves out of holes many, many times over and over again,” Hanks said.
