Kirstie Alley: I Endorse Donald Trump ‘and I’m a Woman!’

Actress Kirstie Alley formally endorsed Donald Trump for president on her Twitter page Thursday.

In a short note, the 65-year-old Golden Globe-winner said she would be backing the current GOP frontrunner in this year’s election, and praised former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for his own pledge to support Trump earlier this week.

Alley — who apparently previously voted for President Obama — anticipated (and received) backlash over her endorsement, posting a brief follow-up warning message: “If Ur ‘disappointed in me or can’t hang w me because of my views..so be it..U were never a friend in the first place. I respect ALL my friends.”

But Twitter users were quick to slam the Cheers star with insults:

Alley is just the latest celebrity to endorse Trump: Actor Jon Voight, Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson, country legend Loretta Lynn, rocker Kid Rock and former Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon have all publicly backed the candidate.

Of course, on the opposite end of the political spectrum, a number of Hollywood’s most liberal celebrities have vowed to leave the country if Trump becomes president, including pop star Miley Cyrus, actor Samuel L. Jackson and The View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Raven-Symoné.

Donald Trump, Jr. has offered to pay for those celebrities’ plane tickets.
