On a night when thirteen contenders asked Americans to vote them for President, one more joined the fray with a well-timed campaign ad: Frank Underwood, the fictional president in Netflix’s hit series House of Cards.
The streaming giant used Tuesday night’s CNN Republican debate to announce the fourth season of the political drama with what looked initially to be a real campaign ad.
“More people will go to work, return home to their families, and sleep more soundly than ever before,” reads the campaign-style voiceover for the :30 spot. “All because one man refuses to settle, putting people before politics. That man is Frank Underwood.”
Enter Golden Globe-winning Kevin Spacey: “America, I’m only getting started.”
The spot points to a fully functional campaign website, fu2016.com, where “voters” can learn about Underwood’s campaign platform, meet First Lady Claire Underwood, and get involved on social media.
House of Cards Season 4 premieres March 4 on Netflix.
