National Review writer and FOX News contributor Katherine Timpf claims that she is receiving death threats for telling a joke at the expense of Star Wars fans during a Fox News segment last month.

During a discussion with Red Eye host Tim Shillue about fan excitement surrounding the new Star Wars sequel The Force Awakens Timpf said, “I have never had any interest in watching space nerds poke each other with their little space nerd sticks, and I’m not going to start now.”

“You people are crazy,” she added. “You Star Wars people are crazy. Yesterday I tweeted something, and all I said was that I wasn’t familiar with Star Wars because I’ve been too busy liking cool things and being attractive — people threatened my life.”

A month later, Timpf claims that she is still receiving online threats from Star Wars fans over her comments.

Timpf was also the subject of this 10-minute YouTube video, which describes her as a “f–king idiot”:

In her National Review column on Monday, Timpf complained about the response to her comments and refused to apologize for them.

“A lot of people are clearly a lot of upset. But guess what? I’m not apologizing. Why? Because the all-too-common knee-jerk reaction of apologizing for harmless jokes after overblown hysteria is ruining our culture,” she wrote. “This political-correctness obsession threatens free speech, and I absolutely refuse to be a part of it.”

Timpf added, “Obviously, the totally insane whackjobs who have been attacking me don’t represent most Star Wars fans. But the fact that so many adults have responded with so much unhinged emotion astounds me.”
