Star Wars fans are saying goodbye to one of the most iconic images from the entire franchise, as Disney is reportedly doing away with Princess Leia’s metal “slave bikini” costume.

KPCC reports Marvel Comics has advised all of its Star Wars artists not to draw Princess Leia in any provocative poses either, according to famed comic book artist J. Scott Campbell, who responded to the report on Facebook.

“Daisy Ridley won’t have to fight against anything. Disney is already well on it’s way to wiping out the ‘slave’ outfit from any future products period,” he wrote. “You will NOT see and [sic] future merchandising featuring the slave outfit ever again. Trust me.”

Campbell was asked if Disney would be editing all future versions of Princess Leia’s wardrobe in Return of the Jedi. “I haven’t heard anything that drastic, I think the backlash would be too big. More of a ‘quietly sweep the rest under the carpet’ kinda thing,” Campbell said.

He continued:

I’ve heard it from two sources. We can’t even draw Leia in a sexy pose at Marvel, let alone in that outfit! We also had a 3-D [Slave Leia] statue killed at a major manufacturer because there will no longer be any [Slave Leia] merchandise.

Recently, Carrie Fisher, the original Princess Leia, advised Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley to “fight for your outfit. Don’t be a slave like I was,” while talking about Fisher’s supposed status as a sex symbol.

Fisher, now 58, will reprise her role in the 7th episode of the franchise.

In July, a Philadelphia father was outraged after seeing the toy version of Slave Leia, which has been around for decades, on a shelf while shopping at Target with his children.

“That’s pretty inappropriate,” said Fred Hill. “I got two daughters I don’t need seeing that crap.”

Hill said his daughters asked why there was a chain around Princess Leia’s neck, to which he responded: “I don’t have any answers… I was just blown away looking at it.”
