Sandra Bullock Cast as Lead in All-Female ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Reboot

Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has been cast as the lead in an all-female reboot of the 2001 Vegas heist film, Ocean’s Eleven.

According to The Playlist, the idea was conceived at the end of 2014 by George Clooney, director Stephen Soderbergh, and producer Jerry Weintraub. 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, a remake of the 1960 film of the same name, starred Brad Pitt and George Clooney, in addition to a number of other well-known leading men. Its huge box office success led to two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen. While Bullock’s part has been confirmed, none of the film’s supporting female co-stars have been announced.

Bullock has been promoting her latest movie, Our Brand Is Crisis, in which she plays an election consultant, a part that was originally written for producer of the film, Clooney.

The actress follows in the footsteps of Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, who have been filming an all-female Ghostbusters.

At the premiere of Our Brand Is Crisis earlier this week, Bullock reportedly said she would like to see more women in Hollywood snag roles written for their male counterparts.

“I like men, I don’t want the male roles to change but I will go after a role if I think a woman can play it,” she said.
