Supergirl star Melissa Benoist poked fun at Jeb Bush on Monday over the Republican presidential contender’s recent comment that she looked “pretty hot” in a new promo for the show.
Benoist was discussing her new superhero show as a guest on CBS’ This Morning on Monday when she was asked about Bush’s comment. During a discussion at the Libre Initiative forum in Las Vegas last week, the presidential hopeful said Benoist “looked pretty hot,” adding: “I don’t know what channel it’s on, but I’m looking forward to that.”
“I heard about it, but I don’t know,” the actress said in between giggles. “I’m glad he’s excited to watch the show.”
Benoist also discussed a scene from the show’s upcoming first episode in which Supergirl tries on different constumes, rejecting a more revealing outfit in favor of the one seen in the show.
“We knew there were some people who would maybe want the character to go in that [sexy] direction,” the actress said. “And that’s not her, that’s not what’s important about her.”
Supergirl premieres Monday night at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
