Man Shot and Killed Outside Hollywood’s Comedy Store

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, “a male black adult wearing a dark hoodie” shot and killed a man outside Hollywood’s famed Comedy Store just after midnight Wednesday morning.

The Wrap reports that the victim, standing on the patio with a group of people, was hit in the torso with at least one of the several shots fired by the attacker. Some witnesses claimed the gunman fired at least six shots.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he died. By the time police arrived, the gunman had run away; he has not been apprehended as yet. ABC7 reported the shooter was last seen running southbound on N. Olive Drive.

The Comedy Store opened in 1972; some of its most famous alumni include George Carlin, Jim Carrey, David Letterman, and Robin Williams. The Los Angeles Times reported that the venue was hosting a Roast Battle between competing comedians on Tuesday night; the show was interrupted by the shooting and then called off.
