HBO is placing another bet on Girls creator and star Lena Dunham, by ordering a new comedy series pilot about second-wave feminism in the early 1960s.
Max, which will be directed by Dunham, is set in 1963, and follows an entry-level journalist who finds herself at the center of the feminist movement while trying to climb the ladder in her new career, Entertainment Weekly reports.
This will be Dunham’s second pilot to bring to the small screen since Girls, which has seen a dramatic ratings collapse in recent months.
The actress recently launched Lenny Letter, which covers, feminism, style, health, and politics, per the site.
Dunham was caught lying about a campus sexual assault during an investigation conducted by Breitbart’s John Nolte last December.
Since the investigation, and Dunham’s subsequent admission she falsely accused an innocent man of rape, ratings for Girls have been in a free fall.
